Stainless steel hygiene basics for foodservice teams
A concise checklist for keeping stainless work surfaces, sinks, and preparation zones in good condition.
Stainless steel is widely used in professional food environments because it is durable, cleanable, and suited to demanding daily routines. Consistent care still matters.
Use the right cleaning sequence
Remove food debris first, wash with an appropriate cleaner, rinse, and dry the surface. Leaving standing water or residue can undermine an otherwise sound cleaning routine.
Protect the finish
Avoid harsh abrasives and products that are not suitable for stainless steel. A consistent cleaning method helps preserve the finish and makes defects easier to spot.
Keep joints and undersides visible
Edges, seams, undersides, and splash zones deserve the same attention as the main work surface. Design access into the routine rather than treating it as an occasional deep clean.
